With an impressive second half of September, the Long Beach City College women’s volleyball team has won nine consecutive matches.
Last week, the Vikings (10-3, 2-0) swept Harbor College and Cerritos on Wednesday and Friday.
Against Harbor, Tatyana Umi and Josannah Vazquez led the way with 10 kills each, while Sierra Davis had 23 assists.
On Friday, the Vikings rolled through a winless Cerritos team 25-11, 25-12, 25-10. Jessica Blakeman led the team with eight kills.
After suffering its first loss, the Long Beach City College men’s soccer team picked up a 1-0 win against Harbor College on Wednesday.
The Vikings’ Bryan Majano scored in the 54th minute to give LBCC (9-1-1, 1-1-1) the 1-0 win.
Sophomore Andres Figueroa-Flores kept the Seahawks scoreless as he completed his second save of the year.
LBCC continued its unbeaten start to South Coast Conference play with a 2-1 win against Harbor College on Tuesday.
Vikings (6-3-2, 3-0-0) sophomore Victoria Gonzalez’s brace was the difference as her second goal was the eventual game-winner in the 53rd minute of play.
Men’s Water Polo
LBCC (9-3) had another busy week as they went 4-1. The Vikings had wins against Rio Hondo, Orange Coast, Grossmont and Diablo Valley.
The lone loss came to Golden West on Saturday.
Women’s Water Polo
The Vikings won their fifth consecutive conference game with a 15-4 win against Rio Hondo on Wednesday.
The Vikings will be back in action Saturday when they host Mt. San Antonio College at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
