The Long Beach Wilson girls’ soccer team lost its season opener to Los Alamitos on Monday 5-1.
SERVITE 3, CABRILLO 1
Cabrillo (4-1) was handed its first loss at home on Monday by a nationally-ranked Servite. All four goals were scored in the first 12 minutes of the game. Servite took the lead in the first minute when Cade Fuller finished a long outlet pass off of the half volley. The Friars doubled their lead in the eighth minute when Zuriel Silva headed home Alexander Labrie’s corner kick.
Cabrillo's Richie Ruiz scored off a beautiful through ball from Leo Corona a minute later on a break away, but Silva and Labrie hooked up on another corner kick in the 12th minute to cap the scoring. Cabrillo outshot Servite for the rest of the contest.
