Will Frankenfeld, Long Beach Poly Cross Country

Poly junior Will Frankenfeld led the Jackrabbits to a sixth-place finish at the CIF State Cross Country championships in Fresno last Saturday. It was Poly’s first appearance at the state meet since 2014, and Frankenfeld finished 20th in the Division 1 race with a time of 15:37 over the three-mile course.

Kalyah Williams, Long Beach Poly Volleyball

Poly senior Kalyah Williams was the city’s best volleyball player this year, and has signed a scholarship with Washington State. She led Poly to a state semifinal appearance last week, where the Jackrabbits were defeated by San Juan Hills. Williams had 10 kills, two blocks and 10 digs.

Joshua Belvin, St. Anthony Basketball

Junior point guard Joshua Belvin led St. Anthony to a fifth-place finish at the Pac Shores Tournament. Belvin led the Saints to three wins over teams ranked in the Top 25 in the LA Times’ rankings with 14.5 points per game, 3 rebounds per game, 3 assists per game and 1.5 steals per game.

Gabe Levin, LBSU Basketball

Senior Gabe Levin averaged 17.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game in four games last week, recording double-doubles against No. 23 West Virginia and Nebraska and leading the 49ers to a win over Oregon State. LBSU is 3-4 overall and visits Arizona this week before hosting Fresno State on Saturday.
