News of former Gov. George Deukmejian’s death Tuesday spread quickly.

Many memories were shared. Here are a few:

Gov. Deukmejian and his wife always remained involved in the city, even after he retired from politics. It was inspirational to see how much they really cared for Long Beach and how they invested their time and energies in various endeavors to support programs, projects and institutions in Long Beach.
