Three candidates vying for the Eighth District City Council seat will answer questions Wednesday, Feb. 12, at a forum presented by the Los Cerritos Neighborhood Association.

Juan Ovalle and Tunua Thrash-Ntuk are challenging incumbent Al Austin for the seat representing northwest Long Beach, including California Heights, Virginia Country Club and Los Cerritos neighborhoods, among others. The Los Cerritos group has set up the candidates' forum at the Masonic Lodge, 3610 Locust Ave.

LCNA President Bob Gill will act as moderator, and the association board will predetermine questions to be asked. People can submit questions for consideration by e-mail until Feb. 7 to No audience questions will be taken the night of the forum.

The candidates will meet with residents at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 12, with the forum starting at 7 p.m. The public is welcome.

The municipal primary election is on Tuesday, March 3. If no candidate wins a majority of the votes, a runoff election will take place Nov. 3, along with the state and national general election.
