Hot Stuff fire

Long Beach firefighters worked to put out a fire in the 2100 block of Broadway in little more than 20 minutes Friday morning, Nov. 9.

Fire ravaged a business near Bixby Park in Long Beach Friday morning, Nov. 9, authorities said.

About 4 a.m., Long Beach firefighters were called to the 2100 block of Broadway to Hot Stuff — a novelty store — where they found heavy smoke coming through the front windows of the business, Fire Capt. Jack Crabtree said.

The store is part of a strip mall near Broadway and Junipero Avenue. Firefighters began an aggressive interior attack and kept the fire contained to the one business, Crabtree said.

Adjacent businesses suffered smoke damage, he added.

About 45 firefighters were called to the scene and had to force their way into the business, Crabtree said. No one was in the business when the fire started and no injuries were reported.

It took firefighters little more than 20 minutes to put out the fire, he said.

Arson investigators were on scene investigating the cause of the fire. A cost estimate of the damage was not immediately available.
