Redshirt freshman Chris Enriquez (Downey, Calif.) has been named the Big West Men's Track Athlete of the Week the conference office announced Tuesday.

This is the fifth weekly honor for Long Beach State this season and first career award for Enriquez.

Last week, Enriquez shaved 17 seconds off his lifetime best in the 5000m to place third in the Open "B" Division of the Mt. SAC Relays. He crossed the finish line in 14:12.89, which ranks fourth in school history and is No. 1 in the Big West this year.

Enriquez is also a member of the 49er cross country team and transferred to Long Beach State from Queens University of Charlotte.

LBSU is back in action this weekend as it heads to the UCSD Triton Invitational (April 26-27) in La Jolla and the Steve Scott Invitational (April 27-28) in Irvine. The two meets will be the 49ers' final tune-up before the Big West Championships.
