The Long Beach State women’s basketball team played 20 minutes of great defense, and it was more than enough to pick up the team’s fourth win in a row as they topped Cal Poly, 65-53.

Freshman TJ DeFalco had a season-high 27 kills and 14 digs to lead the second-ranked Long Beach State men’s volleyball team to a big road win in a five-set thriller at No. 11 UC Santa Barbara. Set scores were 25-22, 24-26, 25-20, 23-25, 15-13.

The Long Beach State women’s basketball team put together a solid 40 minutes as it defeated UC Davis, 75-62, Thursday evening at The Pavilion.

What a difference a day makes. One night after picking up its first loss of the season, the No. 2 Long Beach State men’s volleyball team responded in a huge way, blanking No. 3 BYU in a dominant sweep, 25-16, 25-23, 25-18.

The hot start to the season for the No. 2 Long Beach State men’s volleyball team cooled off in a hurry against No. 3 BYU at home in the Walter Pyramid, as the Beach fell in four sets, 26-24, 25-17, 16-25, 25-20.

The Long Beach State women’s basketball team led by as many as 18 before holding off a Titan rally in the second half to defeat Cal State Fullerton, 62-57, Wednesday evening at the Walter Pyramid.

Long Beach State’s Walter Pyramid is 18 stories tall, and it appears that the 49ers’ men’s volleyball team intends to use every inch of that space inside the building. The Beach peppered USC with attacks that carried such velocity they often went several stories into the air during a 20-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-17.

The Long Beach State men’s volleyball team got its home schedule off to a good start with a four-set win over Cal Baptist in the Walter Pyramid on Friday night, 25-16, 22-25, 25-12, 25-18.

The Long Beach State women’s basketball team fell behind by 17 in the second quarter and was unable to dig itself out of that hole as it dropped a 78-60 decision to UC Riverside Wednesday evening at the Walter Pyramid.
