While Poly scored a big win on the road the rest of the Moore League was stuck in a draw...

Wilson 1, Millikan 1

The two teams racked up 10 fouls in the opening 17 minutes and ended up compiling 43 fouls and three yellow cards. CLICK HERE to see the photo gallery.

Visiting Wilson (7-4-4, 3-0-1) got on the scoreboard just before halftime as senior Sami Reinhard drilled a free kick from just off the corner of the 18-yard box. Millikan (9-0-4, 1-0-1) equalized in the 45th minute when junior Andrea Franco drew a foul in the box and sophomore Sierra Ferrario converted the ensuing penalty kick. The Rams outshot the Bruins 10-7 on the match and both teams had five shots on target.

“Credit to Millikan, they took us out of our game physically,” said Wilson head coach Dalton Kaufman. “The Moore League is a street fight and we passed the test to a degree. We just need to lace the gloves up a little sooner.”

“I’m proud of how we responded in the second half,” said Millikan head coach Tino Nunez. “That was a great goal (by Reinhard) but it was a it’s-not-over halftime speech and we were going forward for the rest of the match.”

On Monday, Millikan will travel to take on Poly in a rescheduled game, and Wilson is back in action Tuesday at Compton.

Poly 2, Lakewood 0

The Jackrabbits defended extremely well against Taylor Duplantier and the Lancers on their way to a third clean sheet in league play. Poly forwards Tori Gonzalez and Artrea Williams connected well in the run of play but the visitors scored both of their goals off of set pieces. CLICK HERE to watch the highlight video.

In the 12th minute, freshman defender Sarah Pilster sent a beautiful volley into the heart of the box. It was deflected toward goal and Lakewood keeper Isabella Reynoso pushed it up and off of the crossbar, but Gonzalez was there waiting to poke the rebound home. In the 43rd minute, senior captain Morgan Mccullough headed in a long throw from junior Sydney Rockett.

“I was pleased we adjusted to the slim field at Lakewood,” said Poly head coach Teri Collins. “They challenged us well and I like how we responded.”

Lakewood will travel to Cabrillo on Tuesday.

Cabrillo 1, Compton 1

The two struggling sides traded first-half goals and played to a stalemate after halftime.
