High school seniors in the Long Beach Unified School District can apply for the Larry Acterman Public Education Award (LAPEA), a permanently-endowed fund at the Orange County Community Foundation.
The fund honors Larry Acterman and his 33-year commitment to public education in Long Beach. The scholarship will be granted to one student — up to $2,000 — to help pursue a career in teaching.
To apply for the scholarship, students must complete an online application form, write a brief essay on the topic of public education and provide a copy of their official high school transcript.
For more information on eligibility, or to apply for the scholarship, go to oc-cf.org/larryacterman. Applications are due by Sunday, April 15.
