Long Beach State University has transitioned students holding overflow parking permits to parking on campus, according to a release.
That's because the Overflow Parking Lot — located two miles from campus on Bellflower Boulevard and Spring Street — will be closed after today, Thursday. The last shuttle from the Overflow Lot to campus will depart at 4:45 p.m.
Beginning on Friday, Oct. 19, those overflow parking permits will be valid seven days a week at any parking lot on campus that allows student permit parking. The shift to on-campus parking had been planned when the overflow plan was implemented, university officials said.
Parking permits will expire on Sunday, Jan. 20, and a new permit will have to be purchased in order to continue parking at the university lots.

NOTE: This story was updated to reflect that plans to shift to on-campus parking had always been in place.
