Long Beach Police Department's SWAT team arrested Ezequiel Cuebas, 32, on Thursday for an attempted murder on Dec. 26.

At about 4:50 p.m. Jan. 11, police searched a home in Wilmington and located Cuebas, a resident of Wilmington. He was booked into the Long Beach Jail for attempted murder and unlawful possession of an assault rifle. He is being held on a $1 million bail.

During the search, detectives recovered numerous firearms, including an assault rifle. It's unknown yet if the weapons were used in the shooting on Dec. 26. 

At about 2:30 a.m. Dec. 26, officers responded to the 1700 block of Cedar Avenue after assisting the Long Beach Fire Department with a shooting victim near Pacific Coast Highway and Chestnut Avenue. The victim was shot in the upper torso and taken to a local hospital.

Officers' investigations led them to Cedar Avenue, where they found the crime scene. The shooting was believed to be gang-related, so gang detectives handled the investigation. Through their work, they identified a possible suspect and his location.
