LBCC graduates celebrate their accomplishments.

This Thursday, Long Beach City College is ushering its 2019 graduates across the threshold and onto the next steps in their careers.

The ceremony is from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, at Veterans Memorial Stadium, 4901 E. Carson St. Before the big day, students can meet for a trial run at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, also at Veterans Stadium. Rehearsal is not required. Here are a few more things to know:

Check In/Attire

The ceremony starts promptly at 4 p.m. on June 6, but graduates are expected to check in no later than 3:30 p.m. Check in starts at 2:30 p.m. at the check-in booth located at the baseball field across from Veterans Stadium.

There is no limit to the number of guests who can attended the ceremony and tickets are not needed. The LBCC commencement ceremony is free for all attendees. Seating for guests is available on a first come, first served basis. 

Caps, gowns and tassels will be on sale at the Viking Bookstore through graduation day. Caps are allowed to be decorated, but inappropriate language or images should be avoided. Additionally, caps and gowns can be donated for future graduates after the ceremony.


Parking is free in the Veterans Stadium parking lot. Guests can enter through Conant Street or Faculty Avenue.

For individuals with wheelchairs, electric scooters or special mobility requests, call LBCC's Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) at 562-938-4558 no later than Monday, June 3.

Prohibited Items

For the graduates, LBCC has a strict list of items that are not allowed on the field during the ceremony. That includes food, umbrellas, purses and high heeled shoes. Bottles of water are permitted.

For guests in the stands, air horns, drones, balloons and fireworks are not allowed.
