The Math Success Center in Building V at Long Beach City College was renamed and dedicated last week in honor of the Don Temple Family Charitable Foundation.

The foundation gave $750,000 to the college — one of the largest gifts in LBCC’s history — to be used for College Promise scholarships as an endowment for innovative success initiatives in the math department.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place Dec. 2, with Fifth District Councilwoman Stacy Mungo, LBCC Board of Trustee President Ginny Baxter, LBCC Superintendent-President Eloy Oakley, Don Temple Family Charitable Foundation President Marlene Temple and Don Temple’s third-generation operator, Sumer Temple.
