California State University, Long Beach, was listed as number 70 among public colleges and universities and 184 among all colleges in the 2018 Kiplinger's Best Values in Public Colleges rankings.

The rankings also published Long Beach's average debt at graduation as $15,165.

The rankings, which started in 1998, combine public schools, private universities and private liberal arts colleges into a single list, according to a release. Kiplinger also ranks the 100 best values in each category. Analysis is based on objective measurements of academic quality and affordability.
