The next, and likely last, lengthy closure begins Sunday night at the Seventh Street (SR-22), I-405, I-605 interchange in east Long Beach.
The ramp from eastbound Seventh Street to northbound 405 will be shut down Sunday night and remain closed for a year while it is rebuilt to accommodate a new carpool lane connector between the 405 and 605. The ramps from eastbound Seventh Street to northbound 605 and southbound 405 will remain open during the construction.
From eastbound Seventh Street, the recommended detour is to exit at Studebaker Road, turn right and travel north to the Studebaker-north 405 onramp.
This weekend, the northbound 405 to northbound 605 connector will be closed for 55 hours, from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. That is in addition to overnight closures on several segments of the 405.
The $277 million West County Connectors project is adding directly connecting carpool lanes between the 405-605 and SR-22 (the Garden Grove Freeway). Work began in 2010 and is expected to be finished in 2014.
