A bicyclist who was struck and critically injured by a car earlier this week on Los Coyotes Diagonal in Long Beach died of his injuries at the hospital Saturday, Sept. 7, authorities said.
The man, an 82-year-old Long Beach resident, was riding his bicycle eastbound across the left lane of northbound Los Coyotes Diagonal north of Stearns Street when he was hit by the car traveling northbound just before noon Thursday, police said.
Long Beach paramedics treated the man on scene before rushing him to a hospital in critical condition, police said.
His name was not released by authorities pending notification of his next of kin.
The driver, a 19-year-old Los Angeles man, remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. He had a valid driver’s license and was not impaired or distracted when the collision occurred, police said.
