A free nine-week computer business applications class is being offered starting this month, but there are only a few seats available.

Instructors from the Long Beach School for Adults will teach the class, which will include introduction to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google applications. Goodwill SOLAC (Southern Los Angeles County) will provide the classroom and computers.

Only 20 people will be admitted to the twice-a-week class. Signups begin on Saturday, Sept. 1.

Attendance is critical, organizers said. The class meets from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday from Sept. 18 to Nov. 15.

To sign up, go to www.lbschools.net/lbsa and click on "On-line computer applications class registration." If you are new to Long Beach School for Adults, you must create an account. For assistance, call (562) 595-8893.

Goodwill headquarters and training center is at 800 W. Pacific Coast Highway.
