California State University, Long Beach's student radio station, 22 West Radio (formerly KBeach Radio), ranks second among Great Value College's website's 30 Amazing College Radio Stations.
The list, distributed last week, is based on stations' offerings and dedication to students and culture, according to a CSULB release. CSULB students work at the station as on-air talent, program directors, engineers and sales managers.
“We are the only local radio station that provides hands-on experience for students,” 22 West Radio general manager Ennovy Bowman said in a release. “No matter what skills you may or may not have to start, when you become a part of our station, you leave with the skill necessary to perform in a professional environment.”
22 West Radio, a 22 West Media radio division, is online at 22westmedia.com, at 88.1 FM in L.A. and Orange counties, and on the app RadioFx. The station has a presence on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
The station was behind first-ranked California Polytechnic's Cal Poly Radio, and beat Florida International University's WRGP The Roar, which was third, and Georgetown University's WGTB in fourth. The list is available at www.greatvaluecolleges.net/college-radio-stations.
22 West Media is funded by Associated Students Inc. and is a CSULB nonprofit auxiliary organization.
Great Value Colleges's mission is "to help you (students) get the best possible education for your (their) money."
