A man identified as Alfonso Meraz was killed early Sunday morning in Belmont Heights when he was run over by a car.

The woman driving the car has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter. Police identified her Monday afternoon as Sandra Silva. She has been released on $100,000 bail.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers were called to the 200 block of Termino Avenue by Long Beach Fire Department paramedics regarding a dead man down in the roadway. Investigation revealed he had been struck by a vehicle.

The victim was identified only as a 49-year-old resident of Long Beach. The woman is a 40-year-old Hacienda Heights resident.
