Police Wednesday sought public help to find a hit-and-run motorist responsible for injuring two pedestrians, one fatally, at an intersection in Long Beach.
The crash occurred about 11:55 p.m. Tuesday at Pacific Avenue and Burnett Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Paramedics took a man and a woman to a hospital, where the 30-year-old Wilmington woman died, police said. Her name is Elyssa Negrete, according to the LA County Coroner's office.
The man, whose name was not released, was hospitalized in critical condition.
"The collision occurred when two pedestrians crossed Pacific Avenue in a marked crosswalk on the north side of the intersection," according to a police statement. "The pedestrians were struck by a white, possibly four-door, unknown model vehicle that was driving southbound on Pacific Avenue at Burnett Street."
