The Downtown Long Beach Alliance’s annual Celebrate Downtown event, recognizing the organization’s recent accomplishments, goals and challenges, will be Thursday, April 18.
A free, public event that also honors Spirit of Downtown award recipients, Celebrate Downtown includes entertainment from the Jim Fisk Jazztet from 5 to 9 p.m., with the official program starting at 7 p.m. At The Top, 201 Pine Ave.

Long Beach’s Portfolio Coffeehouse, a mainstay of Fourth Street’s Retro Row, is perking up customers with a new service that allows folks to order ahead online and skip the line.
“No line equals more time to snooze,” is the idea behind the advance ordering system, according to owner Kerstin Kansteiner, who opened the business back in 1989 at 2300 E. Fourth St.

Customers at The Social List will be humming a Camila Cabello song on their way to enjoy Havana Nights, a summer event series set to return tonight (Thursday).
The Fourth Street Retro Row restaurant and bar will offer rum cocktails and Cuban food specials as they are “transported to the streets of Havana” with dancing and live music from an Afro-Cuban band. It’ll happen from 6 to 9 p.m. April 11, May 16, June 14 and Aug. 8.
