Before the 30th Annual Belmont Shore Classic Car Show can roll into town this fall, the Belmont Shore Business Association is asking for support from community sponsors to keep the event trucking.

“This is a Belmont Shore tradition, but we’re barely making enough to cover our costs, so we have to find sponsors,” BSBA Executive Director Dede Rossi said.

Security and road barricades to protect a crowd of more than 50,000 attendees is one of the largest and growing expenses of the event, besides various city fees and other costs.

“This year is telltale — we know we have to raise this money or reconsider this event going forward,” Rossi said, noting that the association has set a goal to raise at least $20,000 in sponsorships for 2019 to offset costs that have risen more than $5,000 so far this year alone.

Sponsors have the opportunity to participate in one of the largest one-day classic car shows on the West Coast. The association is reaching out to potential sponsors now, offering perks at different donation levels between $500 and $5,000 for the event set for Sunday, Sept. 8.

Rossi said sponsorships are an excellent opportunity for exposure for local businesses or other organizations, especially those in the auto industry. Plus, it's an opportunity to support a community tradition enjoyed in Long Beach for the past three decades.
