Ways To Celebrate Easter In Long Beach

Easter is this Sunday so here’s the most up-to-date information on religious services, Easter Egg Hunts and dining opportunities.

Operation Easter Basket has set its goal for this Easter. They want to assemble 1,800 baskets for children who won’t otherwise get a basket this year due to economic conditions. In addition to candy and toys, baskets can contain school supplies, hygiene items and clothing such as socks, T-shirts and underwear. They’re looking for completed baskets but will accept donations. Donations may be dropped off between 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. today (Thursday, April 5) and 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Friday at Bay Shore Church, 5100 E. The Toledo.

Spend part of Easter Sunday at the Aquarium of the Pacific for its brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition to the buffet, children will have the opportunity to decorate their own Easter cookies. The brunch is $42 for adults and $32 for ages 3-11. Prices include admission to the aquarium and there are discounts for members. Call 590-3100. The aquarium is at 100 Aquarium Way.

Children through the fifth grade are invite to the Easter Eggstravaganza from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 7, at California Heights United Methodist Church, 3759 E. Orange Ave. It’s free and there will be an Easter Egg Hunt, crafts, face painting, a visit from the Easter Bunny and more. For more information, call 595-1996.

The Easter Bunny will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Child ‘s Play Toys, 6489 E. PCH in the Marketplace.

Los Altos United Methodist Church is hosting a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. and three services on Easter: a 7 a.m. Sunrise Praise Service outside at the church, and traditional services at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. with choirs and a brass ensemble. The church youth are hosting a pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. to support their Sierra Service Mission Project. Los Altos United Methodist Church is at 5950 E. Willow St.

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 5872 Naples Plaza, has Good Friday Evening Service at 7:30 p.m. and a service on Easter Sunday at 10:45 a.m.

The Long Beach Ministers Alliance will host “Risen,” a “celebration style” sunrise service beginning at 5:45 a.m. Sunday at Artesian Well Church, 3960 Gilman St.

The Long Beach Rescue Mission will open at 11 a.m. to serve an Easter Meal as well as hand out Easter baskets to neighborhood children. They’re accepting donations of goods or money for the baskets. Call 591-1292. The LBRM is at 1335 Pacific Ave.

Purchase an entrée from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and get a bottomless glass of Champagne for $3 at Brix, 16635 PCH in Sunset Beach. The phone number is 592-3167.

Buster’s Beach House and Long Board Bar will serve breakfast until 2 p.m. and have breakfast and dinner specials along with the Easter Bunny. For reservations, call 598-9431. Buster’s is at 168 N. Marina Dr.

Brunch at Claire’s at the Long Beach Museum of Art is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will feature a seafood station, carving station, omelet station along with live music and free admission to the museum. Cost is $44.95 for adults and $12.95 for ages 10 and younger. There’s a discount for members. Reservations are required. Call 439-2119, ext. 234. Claire’s and the museum are at 2300 E. Ocean Blvd.

The Easter Bunny will be on hand for brunch starting at 11 a.m. at Don the Beachcomber’s, 16278 PCH in Huntington Beach. Brunch is $34.05 for adults, $22.95 for seniors and $10.95 for children. The chef also has created a special Easter Prix Fixe three-course dinner for $25 that will be served from 4 to 10 p.m. There is live music all day along as well. Call 592-1321 for reservations.

Brunch at Fuego at Hotel Maya from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. includes live Latin Jazz. The menu features salads included a Braised Maple Duck Salad, Cheeses and Carcuterie Station, omelet station, hot entrees and more. Brunch at Fuego is $52 per adult, $26 for children 6-12 and free for ages 5 and younger. For reservations, call 481-3910. The Hotel Maya is at 700 Queensway Dr.

Easter Brunch will be served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Gladstone’s and the full menu will be available all day. Gladstone’s is at 330 S. Pine. Call 432-8588 for reservations.

Easter at Kelly’s means its regular brunch and menu along with a Prix Fixe for $47.95 with entre choice of Roast Prime Rib, Colorado Rack of Lamb or Honey Glazed Ham as well as appetizer or soup, choice of two sides and dessert choice. Kelly’s is at 5716 E. Second St. For reservations, call 433-4983.

Khoury’s Easter Brunch, which includes complimentary Champagne, coffee, and orange juice, features a wide array of food including seafood station, carving station, soup and salad station, hot buffet station, omelet and pasta station and more. It’s $29.95 for adults, $24.95 for seniors, $12.95 for ages 9-12 and $4.95 for ages 3-6. Reservations are required. Call 598-6800. Khoury’s is at 110 Marina Dr.

Kobe Steakhouse and Lounge will feature Ticket to Ride, a Beatles Tribute band, as background for their Easter Brunch. Kobe is at 3001 Old Ranch Pkwy in Seal Beach. Call 596-9969 for reservations and more information.

Lasher’s has a three-course Special Brunch Menu with complimentary Champagne from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for $44. They will serve their regular dinner menu from 5 to 8 p.m. Reservations are suggested; call 433-0153. Lasher’s is at 3441 E. Broadway.

The Marriott Long Beach has two seatings for Easter. They both feature full buffets including carving stations, entrees such as grilled chicken and salmon, dessert stations and more. The brunch (10 a.m.-2 p.m.) is $35.95 for adults, $32.95 for seniors and $18.95 for ages 4 to 11. The dinner (4-7 p.m.) is $32.95/$$26.95 and $16.95. For reservations, call 425-5210. Naples Rib Company offers its regular menu along with a special Easter meal of a choice of ham or turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and steamed vegetables. It’s $15.99 for dine-in and $11.99 for takeout. Naples Rib Company, 5800 E. Second St., opens at noon on Easter. For takeout, call 439-7427.

The Prospector has a Champagne Brunch from 8 a.m. to noon, starting at $12.99 and Easter Specials (Baked Ham, Turkey, NY Steak and Lobster Tail) beginning at 2:30 p.m. with prices starting at $13.99. The Prospector is at 2400 E. Seventh St. and the phone number is 438-3839.
