Friday night (1/6/09) at about 730 pm a vehicle crashed through the Orange Ave. side of Broadway Donuts, destroyed the front half of that business, and severely impacted the wall of the adjacent Mi Lupita's restaurant. The accident was reportedly caused by another vehicle which fled the scene. Witnesses are requested to contact either business (The restaurant remains open. A contact number for the donut shop is posted at the corner of Orange and Broadway) or the LBPD. There were reportedly no serious injuries.

I just walked by the toddler park at Livingston, I knew they were making improvements I didn't realize they were putting up a big brick blockade wall, this prevents anyone else from enjoying the walk across the span of grass and is going to be a big blockade to the view of grass and trees. I feel sorry for the residents who lost their view. Can anything be done to stop this?

Regarding article "Arts district sees effect of economy" We own commercial property at 1023 E. 4th Street. The property has been vacant since August. We once had a dog groomer at the location who retired and had another interested in leasing the space. The city said no. We had a franchise coffee and smoothy company interested in the space. City says no. We had a sandwich franchisee turned down, a home improvement contractor's showroom, a drapery and wall covering store (which one used to occupy adjacent space), an antique and eclectic furniture store all denied Business Licenses. Whats ailing downtown is poor leadership and an anti bussiness aditude...
