What do brownies, baseball teams, Suzie Price and Jane Close Conoley have in common?
They're all a part of the Long Beach Playhouse plot to raise money for the various educational and collaborative programs available at the Playhouse. The party also celebrates the Playhouse's 90th anniversary.
The event is called the Long Beach Playhouse Radio Hour and it's a gathering of city leaders to poke fun at local controversies, make light of current events and overall have a good time.
Grunion Gazette Executive Editor Harry Saltzgaver creates the narrative with an engaging script acted out by Evan Anderson Braude, Lucy Daggett, Gloria and Mario Cordero (president of the Water Commission and executive director at the Port of Long Beach, respectively), Jane Close Conoley (LBSU President), Gigi Fusco Meese, Porter Gilberg (executive director at the LGBTQ Center), Mari Hooper, Suzie Price (Third District Councilwoman) and Doug Otto (LBCC trustee and school board candidate).
The cast will take on new personas and show off their acting chops to a crowd at the Keesal, Young & Logan offices overlooking the city and the port. In addition to the play, the audience will enjoy an open bar, appetizers, an opportunity drawing and more.
The ninth annual Long Beach Playhouse Radio Hour is happening from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 21, at Keesal Young & Logan, 400 Oceangate #1400.
Tickets are $60 for members and $100 per couple. For nonmembers, tickets are $75 per person or $125 per couple.
