Artist panelists are leading Cal State Long Beach's Zines Are Us workshop from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday, July 28, at the University Art Museum, 1250 N. Bellflower Blvd.

The four-hour workshop will cover the art of zine-making and how to appeal to a range of audiences regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation or background, the release said.

The program will begin promptly at 11 a.m. with a discussion on how multicultural artists share their stories through zines and express their diverse perspectives creatively.

Jason Keam, Long Beach POW! WOW! 2018 artist, will lead the panel discussion alongside Sophia Zarders, Tania Negrete and Tony Hoang.

From 12:30 to 3 p.m., attendees will be directed to the hands-on portion of the workshop. Materials will be provided to create personal zines or pins.

Live music will be performed by 22 West Radio and Pow Wow School of Music.
The event is free, but guests must register to reserve a spot. Go to and search for "Zines Are Us."
