Municipal Band last los cerritos 2018

The Long Beach Municipal Band played its last concert at Los Cerritos Park this season on Wednesday night.

Music is in the air.

Every summer, different Long Beach groups organize a variety of free outdoor concerts throughout the city. Here's a list of dates and times for free musical entertainment in the city.

Long Beach Municipal Band

The Long Beach Municipal Bands is celebrating 111 years of big band music and jazzy tunes, and the public is invited to join in on the fun.

Each event is family and picnic friendly, so guests can get comfortable with picnic blankets, folding chairs and food. All concerts are free thanks to sponsorship from the Port of Long Beach, and begin promptly at 6 p.m., so get there early to reserve a spot.

The schedule is:

Tuesday, June 25 and July 2, at Whaley Park, 5620 E Atherton St.

Tuesday, July 9 at Cesar Chavez Park, 401 Golden Ave.

Tuesdays, July 16, 23 and 30 at Bluff Park , 3509 E. Ocean Blvd.

Wednesdays, June 26 through July 31, at Los Cerritos Park, 3750 Del Mar Ave.

Thursdays June 27 through Aug. 1 at Marine Stadium, 5255 E. Paoli Way

Fridays, June 28 through Aug. 2 at El Dorado Park West, 2800 N Studebaker Rd.

Rancho Los Cerritos

Rancho Los Cerritos is offering two free concerts this summer. Gates open for picnicking at 5 p.m. both days and the music starts at 5:30 p.m.

Sunday, July 28, featuring the Bernie Pearl Blues Band with Barbara Morrison

Sunday, Aug. 25, featuring The Band of the California Battalion.

Community Concert Series

The Community Concert Series is bringing local bands to the parks each Saturday in July and August to entertain Long Beachers and their families.

All concerts begin at 6:30 p.m., with showings at El Dorado Nature Center, McArthur Park and Houghton Park for the eighth annual Uptown Jazz Festival. Those dates will be available at the beginning of June.
