The Budweiser Clydesdales

The Clydesdales

The world-famous Budweiser Clydesdale horses will visit the bars of Belmont Shore on Saturday, March 30.

The team and its coach and scheduled to be at Panama Joe's, Second and Granada Avenue, at noon that Saturday. Then there will be a photo opportunity at Legends Sports Bar, between Covina and Corona avenues.

Other stops on the tour of Belmont Shore will be Dogz (5300 E. Second St. at Glendora), Riley's (5331 E. Second St.), Shannon's Bayshore Saloon (5335 E. Second St.) and a final stop at Quinn's Pub and Grill (200 Nieto Ave.).

The first Budweiser Clydesdale team trotted out on April 7, 1933, to celebrate the end of Prohibition. Legend has it that the original two six-horse hitches moved the Busch family, drivers and workers to tears, prompting the phrase "crying in your beer."

The appearance is free for spectators. The visit is being coordinated by the Belmont Shore Business Association and Eric Johnson at Legends.
