Wendy Hornsby, who once wrote the column "No Mystery Here" for the Grunion, will be back in town this week for a reading of her newest mystery novel, "Number 7, Rue Jacob."

Hornsby was a history professor at Long Beach City College until her retirement in 2014. At that time, she stopped writing for the Grunion and, with her husband Paul, moved to Grass Valley to be closer to grandchildren.

"Number 7, Rue Jacob" is Hornsby's 13th published mystery, and 11th in her Maggie Macgowen mystery. It is set in Paris.

Macgowen will read and sign her book at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at Gatsby Books, 5535 E. Spring St., just off of Bellflower Boulevard.
