• Belmont Shore’s Piel Canela is celebrating its one-year anniversary.

Piel Canela specializes in skin, body and bath care, using top-of-the-line products. For the summer, there are great sun block products as well as skin care products to help relieve and limit the damage from sunburns (in case you forgot the sunscreen that day).

There are two kinds of powerboats, a 17-foot model and a 19-foot model, which can handle up to six people. There also is a 21-foot electric boat, which may not have the horsepower but can handle up to 12 people.

• If you’d rather stay on land, there is another option to enjoy the summer at the beach and get around in a different way.

Wheel Fun Rentals offers surreys for families of four, two seater bikes, some four-wheel electric cars and more for rent. They can go up and down the city’s bike path and around the shore areas, from Second Street to downtown.

• Wachovia has opened a financial center in the heart of Bixby Knolls.

Located at 4040 Atlantic Ave. (near Carson Street), the center is more than just a bank branch with savings accounts and home loans. It has private rooms for customers wanting to do some business, and is a “Hispanic financial center” where there is an emphasis on a bilingual customer experience.

Wachovia also tried to incorporate some “green building” practices such as recycled building materials and low-flow toilets. There are now 32 Wachovia locations in Los Angeles County, 173 in the state and 3,300 nationwide.
