• Valentine’s Day may be gone, but it is always a season for romance and fine gifts.

That’s what the new Glamour, Girls & Gifts store on Second Street is counting on. With pictures of Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn in the window, the store offers a section of quality undergarments (from bras to lingerie) as well as jewelry and other gifts.

The store opened last week at 5237 E. Second St, under the same ownership as the previous store selling name crests and other assorted items. However, the new store has a dramatic new look worth checking out.

• A few Naples businesses won awards from the Naples Improvement Association recently.

Nails of Naples, owned by Vernon McGhee, was named the business of the year for 2007. The most improved business award went to a long-established Naples business — Morry’s of Naples, and its owner Ken Rabin.

• One of the questions most asked on Second Street right now is “When in Olive’s going to move in?”

The answer is that work is already underway at 5000 E. Second Street (the former home of Belmont Heritage and before that Papa Jon’s). Owners say the goal is to be open by late May, when there will be a big grand opening celebration.

• IMAX is finally coming to Long Beach.

Regal Cinemas, which runs the Regal Stadium 26 at the Long Beach Towne Center, recently announced it would double the number of IMAX theaters it operates and Long Beach would be one of the new locations.

The conversion to the large-screen format will take at least a year. Several major DreamWorks’ animation productions (“Monsters vs. Aliens” and “Shrek Goes Fourth”) are planned to be released in the IMAX format in the coming summers.
